All right, I think that trite little "I'll do this when I feel like it" message has been up quite long enough and then some.
So, I'm a 19 year old college sophomore, currently on exchange from a women's school in Virginia to a women's school in Tokyo prefecture. I'm bi with a 99% preference for other girls, I'm a vegetarian, I'm a Sudbury model grad, and I'm otherwise so extraordinarily liberal that I'm amazed no one's tried to burn me at the stake yet. For contrast to that, I'm an Episcopalian =P No one likes a story with only one side, right?
I'm a fencer, an archer, a roleplayer, a musician, a bibliophile, an artist, a reenactor, an actress, a writer, a linguist, and a student of just about everything. I'm a romantic with awful luck in love, extraordinarily blunt, and even more unusually protective of my friends. I have a bad temper and a martyr complex of sorts, but I mean well, I really do...
While I intend to major in Asian Studies and either business or International Relations (with a minor in whichever of those I don't major in, or French), I'm the sort of person who's got at least a passing intellectual interest in a dizzyingly wide range of subjects. I'm not into love stories, at least not ones without a huge twist to keep things interesting, but anything and everything else is 'to read' or 'read'. I love Sun Tzu and Miyamoto Musashi, the Romance of Three Kingdoms and the Aeneid and the Bhagavad Gita and Le Mort D'Arthur, Basho and Poe and Vergil and Lao Tzu, Tolkien and Pratchett and Asimov, and countless other works and authors. I like to study cultures, sciences, languages, history, math, philosophy-- once again, just...everything. If I had all eternity to do as I pleased, I'd spend it travelling and reading.
When I'm roleplaying or writing, one of my personal habits is to try and make each character have a significant trait (usually a flaw) that I haven't played on before. It keeps things interesting, and encourages me to explore people's motivations more thoroughly. A friend and I are planning work on a comic loosely based on one of our games, but it's a far-future thing as of now, since I'm still working on getting good enough to draw a comic and be anywhere near satisfied with the outcome.
The protective instincts I mentioned almost always apply to strangers as well as established friends, so if you need to talk about something, or just want to chat, feel free to contact me!
